One day a year, it is all about romance, and it’s right around the corner! February 14th is the day of Wine-ing and Dining, and we’re here to help with your healthy dinner preparedness.
Pasta is often a favorite dish for many, and that doesn’t change on the 14th. A homemade dish of Spaghetti or Lasagna can be a great touch at the end of the day, and there are ways to add a healthy twist!
Pasta = carbs in many of our minds, but there have been some really great alternative pastas that have been created.
- Spaghetti Squash Noodles, are a fantastic substitute for anyone needing to cut down on carbs, but still want the classic dish.
- Banza Pasta is another wonderful way to eat pasta if you have any dietary restrictions such as being gluten-free. They make their pasta in a dedicated gluten-free facility so cross contamination isn’t a worry.
Shepherds Pie is almost comfort food in its best form. You don’t always have to stick to the classic recipe though, you can spice it up with some chick peas, cauliflower, or garbanzo beans.
If you’re watching your portion size, then instead of taking that 9 x 13 pan out, get your muffin tins. Put all of the ingredients in the muffin tins, bake normally, and you have pre-portioned out sizes!
